indoor air quality testing in Portland
indoor air quality testing in Portland, OR
One of the most common things we hear from Portland homeowners is: “I don’t see any mold, but something isn’t right.” Persistent sneezing, irritated eyes, allergy symptoms that only flare up indoors. These are signs that your indoor air quality may be compromised.
Indoor air quality testing takes the guesswork out of it. At NW Environmental Solutions, we bring real testing equipment into your home, measure what’s in the air, and give you a clear report that tells you exactly what we found.
No vague answers, no unnecessary add-ons. Just clear data and actionable next steps.
Do Any of These Sound Familiar?
These are the most common symptoms that lead homeowners to contact us:
Sneezing, coughing, or congestion that seems worse indoors
Watery or itchy eyes that clear up when you leave the house
Allergy symptoms year-round, even outside of typical allergy season
A musty smell you can’t track down
Visible water stains on walls or ceilings
Past water damage or flooding, even if it was “fixed”
If several of those sound familiar, professional air quality testing can give you a clear answer. The issue could be mold spores, pollen, dust, or another airborne contaminant. The only way to know for certain is to test and that’s were we come in.
★★★★★
I couldn’t be any happier with the results.
I had mold growing in my garage and reached out to NWEnvironmentalSolutions for help. Victor sent Jose Torres to my home right away. From start to finish they were incredible. Their pricing was very reasonable and the entire job was complete in just two days…My garage look great, the mold is gone and I feel so relieved knowing it was handled by people who truly care and I highly recommend them.

What Happens During the Test
Our process is straightforward and designed to be as convenient as possible:
We bring a particle counter to your home.
This equipment measures airborne particle concentration throughout multiple areas of your home, giving us an initial assessment during the visit.
We take everything back to the office.
Our team reviews the data at the office, compares it to established baseline levels, and prepares a thorough report.
You get a detailed PDF report in 1–2 days.
The report includes clear findings, particle counts, and next steps. It’s written in plain language so you can understand every detail.
If levels are high, we recommend a lab sample.
A cassette gets sent to an accredited lab for a more detailed analysis. This analysis identifies the specific type of mold or contaminant present and its concentration level.
How much does it cost?
$150
gets you the full inspection with on-site particle counting. This is bundled with our mold inspection, so you’re getting a thorough walkthrough of the house plus the air quality data in one visit.
$350
adds a lab-confirmed air sample cassette. We recommend this when particle counts come back elevated and you need to know exactly what you’re breathing in. The lab identifies the specific mold species and contaminant.
What Can the Testing Pick Up?
Our equipment detects mold spores, pollen, dust particles, and other airborne particulate matter. The on-site particle counter identifies whether levels are elevated.
If they are, the lab cassette provides a detailed breakdown: the specific contaminant, its concentration, and whether it poses a health concern.

Air Quality Testing FAQ
-
If your symptoms consistently improve when you leave the house and return when you’re home, that’s a strong indicator. Same with musty smells, recent water damage, or allergy symptoms that don’t align with typical seasonal patterns. Testing provides a definitive answer.
-
About an hour at your property. The full report arrives within 1 to 2 business days.
-
The particle counter provides an overall reading of airborne particle levels. The lab cassette identifies the specifics: mold species, contaminant type, and concentration. Think of the counter as the initial screening and the cassette as the in-depth analysis.
-
In most cases, no. If mold is visible, we recommend scheduling a free remediation estimate instead. Check out our mold remediation page or our black mold removal process for more info. Air quality testing is most valuable when symptoms are present but the source isn’t visible.
